About

James K. O’Connell is an environmental engineer leading cleanups of contaminated sites in the Los Angeles Region on behalf of the State of California. His perspective embraces nuance as a method for deeper understanding, as well as compassion. The solution to a complex problem will never be perfect, but James is a voice for well-reasoned steps forward.

As an elected Board Member on the NoHo Neighborhood Council, James works to be an advocate for pedestrian safety, renters’ rights, neighborhood beautification, and improved city services. He has a wealth of experience in policy development, community engagement, and project management, and as a proud union member, James understands the importance of our collective power. He has a pulse on our neighborhood and a successful track record in volunteer municipal service.

James is a North Hollywood resident and renter, and he enjoys walking through NoHo to the Metro on his commute. Find him grabbing coffee at Superba or Groundwork, biking along the Chandler Bike Path, or soaking up the sun at the North Hollywood Park.
